ℹ️ An MTU allows designated users to work with a specific provider, including opening encounters and communicating with the MTU. Selecting the appropriate permission also allows a user to prescribe under the provider’s name.
Covering-provider configuration extends this functionality by assigning users who can scribe on behalf of a provider during a coverage period.
📋 Overview
Adding a user to an MTU provides access to the provider's MTU and, when the appropriate checkbox is selected, allows the user to prescribe under the provider's name.
A covering provider can also have designated users added to the MTU to scribe on the provider's behalf during a coverage period.
The two workflows use the same MTU configuration area:
Add a User to an MTU — Adds a user to the provider's MTU and can grant prescribing permissions.
Add a Covering Provider to an MTU — Adds designated users who will scribe on behalf of the provider during a coverage period.
⚠️ Before You Begin
For adding a user, have the following information available:
Name of the user being added.
Name of the provider to whom the user will be assigned.
For covering-provider setup, a user list must be submitted to the Advanced Permissions User before configuration.
🚀 Accessing the MTU
From the Savas Software home screen, select Management, based on the assigned permission level.
From the Management drop-down menu, select Providers.
On the Provider Management page, locate the appropriate provider and select the Provider Detail icon.
From the Provider Detail page, select the MTU tab.
👤 Adding a User to an MTU
From the MTU tab, locate the Quick Add field.
Begin typing the name of the user to be added.
Select the appropriate user from the available results.
Confirm that the newly added user appears in the User List.
To allow the user to prescribe under the provider's name, select the checkbox to the right of the user's name.
💡 Important
The Can Prescribe For Provider checkbox must be selected for the user to prescribe under the provider's name. If the checkbox is not selected, the user will not have prescribing permission for that provider.
🩺 Adding Users for a Covering Provider
Covering-provider configuration uses the same MTU tab and Quick Add field.
From the provider's MTU tab, locate the Quick Add field.
Begin typing the name of the user who will scribe on behalf of the provider.
Select the appropriate user.
Repeat the process for each user who will provide coverage.
Confirm that all designated users appear in the User List.
🧠 Example
If a provider is covering for the Tomorrowland team, users from Tomorrowland can be added to the provider's MTU. These users can then scribe on the provider's behalf during the coverage period.
✏️ Managing Prescribing Permissions
The checkbox located to the right of each user's name determines whether the user can prescribe for the provider.
Checkbox selected — The user can prescribe under the provider's name.
Checkbox not selected — The user cannot prescribe under the provider's name.
Review the appropriate prescribing permissions before the user begins working under the provider's MTU.
🗑️ Removing a User from an MTU
Locate the user in the User List.
Clear the Can Prescribe For Provider checkbox.
Select the Trash Can button to remove the user from the MTU.
⚠️ Warning
Clearing the Can Prescribe For Provider checkbox removes prescribing permission but does not, by itself, remove the user from the MTU. Use the Trash Can button to remove the user from the MTU.
📅 Coverage-Day Requirement
The covering provider must update the Facility View on the day coverage begins. The source guide references additional instructions for completing this process.
